« Adobe is Listening »

On this episode of That Post Show, we have an epic lineup: Paul Del Vecchio, Paul Zadie, Scott Simmons and Kevin Monahan.

We talk about Adobe with Kevin, who was a founder of one of the first -- if not the first -- Final Cut Pro users groups in the world (the SFCutters). Kevin now works at Adobe as Sr. Content and Community Lead for Premiere and After Effects. He chats with us about Adobe products, media management and how Adobe is actually listening to customers.

This show was edited on Adobe Audition. Let me know how it sounds or if there are any problems with the audio.

Think you can write a theme song? Give it a try. If we use it, you could win cool stuff (like an Amazon Kindle).

Alternate Titles

  • Formerly Final Cut
  • Adobe is Listening
  • A Different Universe
  • Premiere is a Trojan Horse
  • Nerd-based compositing
  • The Right Tool
  • Trying to sell me a blender
  • The Whole Adobe Mantra
  • It Final Cut Ten'd on You
  • Crazy Ass Folder Structures!

Kanen Flowers

Kanen is the madman behind Scruffy Thinking. He writes a blog, writes code and generates too much content for one sane person. You can follow him on twitter. You can also check out his media company at Scruffy.TV.

Kevin Monahan

Kevin was a founder of one of the first -- if not the first -- Final Cut Pro users groups in the world (the SFCutters). Kevin now works at Adobe as Sr. Content and Community Lead for Premiere and After Effects. He chats with us about Adobe products, media management and how Adobe is actually listening to customers.

Scott Simmons

Scott Simmons is a senior editor at Filmworkers in Nashville, Tennessee. In his decade as an editor he has worked on projects ranging from music videos for Taylor Swift and Kenny Rogers to concerts for Toby Mac and Gary Allan to television programs for CMT and ABC Sports to commercials, documentaries and corporate work. Scott is also a contributing writer for Studio Daily and runs the popular post-production blog The Editblog on Pro Video Coalition. You may even find him teaching a few classes at NAB.

Paul del Vecchio

Paul is an Award Winning Director from NY, has a short film on George Romero’s Diary of the Dead DVD. His last feature film, FOREVER, won Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the Long Island Big Fish Film Festival.

Paul Zadie

Paul is an editor of commercials, movies and short films. He's the ultimate Editor and knows his way around Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, After Effects and everything else. He calls himself a "Motion Picture Artist" and nothing could be more true.

Sponsors

We are sponsored by CrumplePop, the place for Final Cut Pro X plugins and effects. We are also sponsored by Noise Industries, creators of the amazing FxFactory Pro suite of effects and plugins (now Final Cut Pro X compatible).

And, if you'd like to order something from ToolFarm and get 5% off anything in the store, including sale items, use the code THATPOSTSHOW at checkout.

Show Notes

Adobe Production Premium CS6 is coming, possibly at NAB 2012!

My blurry photo from the Supermeet about the Adobe workflow, as mentioned on the show.

Kevin on Adobe TV talking with Karl Soule, asking questions about Premiere from a Final Cut perspective.

Total Training's website. You know it's bad when the page has a home.asp as the main page. Welcome to 1998, guys.

Video2Brain has amazing training and they are partnering with Adobe -- and they have an iPad app. We mention Todd Kopriva from Adobe as well as his training.
